Incredible Inner Space Exhbition by Microscopy Australia
Human skin cells that have been induced to produce stem cells and then reprogrammed to become nerve cells. The blue spots show the cells’ nuclei. The green stain reveals that the cells are organising themselves into correctly oriented structures, like normal nerve cells. Induced stem cells bypass the need for embryos and overcome rejection as they are perfectly matched to the patient.
Visualised using fluorescence microscopy by Claire Homan, University of Adelaide.
